A short story about the couple's brief
Sophie and Jay's summer wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel was filled with beautiful colours and lovely personal touches. Sophie absolutely loved dried flowers and wanted something small but perfect for her special day. She also wanted flowers she could keep as a lovely reminder of their wedding. One of my favourite parts of the brief was that Sophie left the colour scheme entirely up to her daughter! She chose a gorgeous combination of pinks, yellows, whites and oranges, which worked beautifully together. The result was a collection of colourful, textured dried flower arrangements that felt relaxed, pretty and full of personality.
THE FLOWERS
I created Sophie's bridal bouquet using a beautiful mixture of dried and preserved flowers, including colourful strawflowers, delicate grasses, fluffy bunny tails, craspedia and other textured blooms. The combination of soft pinks, sunny yellows, warm oranges and delicate whites brought the whole design together. Smaller coordinating bouquets were created for the bridesmaids and flower girl, while matching dried flower buttonholes added a lovely finishing touch to the wedding party. The flowers complemented the dusky pink bridesmaid dresses beautifully, adding little pops of colour against the rustic brickwork and warm surroundings of Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel. What made these flowers even more special was that, unlike fresh wedding flowers, Sophie and her wedding party could take their dried arrangements home to treasure long after the celebrations had finished. A lovely example of how wedding flowers don't have to be big or extravagant to be beautiful. Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference!
